The greatest gift

In a certain tribe in Africa, the women go to the Forest to pray when one of them is pregnant. In their belief, each soul has its own vibration. They meditate until they can listen to this vibration and sing the child’s song. Then, they go to the tribe, and teach them all to sing it.

When the child is born, they get together and sing the child his song. This ritual is repeated in every important moment of this person’s life, such as when becoming an adult, at the day of his marriage and on the occasion of his death.

If for any reason this person commits a crime, he is brought to the core of the village, they gather around in a circle and once more sing his song, in order to remind him of most profound identity. This people believe that is not through punishment, but with love, that an anti-social behavior should be approached to.

When someone is capable of feeling how valuable he is, when he can appreciate his essence, then there is no need to hurt himself or anyone else. That is why a healthy self-esteem is the greatest gift a parent could give to his child. For a human being it is important to be loved merely because he exists. Being able to feel how valuable you are is just like being able to listen to your very own song.
